Matthew joined the Oklahoma Center for Nonprofits as its Chief Operating Officer in 2023 after a 19 year career in Ordained Ministry with The United Methodist Church. At the Center, Matthew leads the operational and programmatic facets
of our statewide association for nonprofits, with daily responsibility for all internal functions of the organization, including management and supervision of key leadership roles.
He holds a Bachelor of Arts in Liberal
Arts (Literature) and Business Information Technology from Rogers State University, as well as a Master of Divinity and a Doctor of Ministry in Organizational Leadership from Asbury Seminary in Wilmore, Kentucky.
Matthew is a citizen of the Cherokee Nation,
former Cherokee Nation tribal council candidate, and a sixth generation
Cherokee veteran. Matthew
is a graduate of the Army’s Infantry, Airborne, Air Assault, Ranger Indoctrination, Jungle Operations Training, and Sniper Schools
Matthew has participated in deployments to Panama and the former Yugoslavia in support of Operation Joint Forge.
Matthew’s volunteer service has focused on outreach to marginalized communities in Oklahoma and around the
world. In 2018, Matthew began an outreach service to people experiencing homelessness in South Oklahoma City, eventually founding the Southern Hills Outreach Foundation; a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization that exists today as one of
the largest outreach services of its type in the Oklahoma City Metro area. Matthew currently serves on the Board of Directors for Skyline Urban Ministries in Oklahoma City, and has served as the past chair of the Provisional
Committee for the United Methodist Board of Ordained Ministry (BoM), interview facilitator on the BoM’s Doctrine and Polity team, the Chair of the Heartland District Missional Strategy Team, member of the Wichitas District Missional
Strategy Team, member of the Wichitas District Superintendency Committee, member of the (formerly) Stillwater District Council, member of the Board of Directors for Habitat for Humanity, and the Leadership Development Ministry Team,
all within the governance structure of the Oklahoma Annual Conference of The United Methodist Church. Matthew has led and participated in missional outreach opportunities in Mexico, Panama and South Korea, in addition to numerous outreach
opportunities throughout the United States.
In his free time, Matthew enjoys reading, running,
cooking, and traveling as often as he can.
